Record Broken in Air Traffic Control Center

In August, new records were set for both the number of aircraft passing through the Reykjavik Control Area and the total of kilometers flown. A total of 22,568 aircraft passed through the area, flying a combined 32,025,038 kilometers. This marks the second consecutive month of record-breaking activity, as July also surpassed previous records.

As things stand, we're on track to exceed 200,000 aircraft in our oceanic control area for the year. It will be exciting to see if we can achieve this milestone!

It's also worth noting that there was a 5.4% increase in traffic in August year-over-year. August 2023 was the biggest month of that year and held the record until it was broken in July 2024.
