Possible effect of air traffic controller strike

No scheduled flights will go through Keflavík and Reykjavík Airports during a specified period of time if announced temporary industrial action will take place this week.

The Icelandic Air Traffic Controller Association has announced two separate industrial actions in the area FAXI TMA on the 12th of December and on the 14th of December from 04:00 – 10:00 GMT resulting in no flights in or out of Keflavik Airport and Reykjavik Airport during that time, with the exemption of Search and Rescue flights, ambulance flights and flights for the Icelandic Coast Guard.

Passengers who have flight during this period are advised to monitor for information from their airlines or check for arrival and departure information on the Keflavik Airport and Reykjavik Airport websites.

Talks on a new contract between The Icelandic Air Traffic Controller Association (FÍF) and The Confederation of Icelandic Enterprise (SA) – on behalf of Isavia ANS, Isavia ohf. and Isavia Regional Airports – are still ongoing at The Office of the State Conciliation and Mediation Officer. The next meeting has been planned for later today, Monday December 11th.
