Improvements in the Air Navigation Services over Greenland

Isavia ANS has implemented a new lateral separation based on GNSS for the approach area at Sondrestrom (Kangerlussuaq) airport which is the same as used in upper airspace. The air traffic controllers will now be able to make better use of the airspace and thereby reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emission of aircraft flying to and from Sondrestrom.

ATS routes over Greenland based on GNSS have been upgraded in coordination with airlines, Danish Aviation Authority (Trafikstyrelsen) and Naviair. The changes enable the use of higher and more efficient flight levels that reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emission.
