️On September 17–18, we received an official visit from two employees of UkSATSE, Ukraine's air navigation service provider. Valentyn Tataryntsev and Oleksiy Bochelyuk came to the headquarters of Isavia ANS, where they were welcomed by Kjartan Briem, Hans L. Karlsson, and Þórdís Sigurðardóttir.
Prior to the visit, a formal letter had been received from UkSATSE detailing their main priorities for information gathering. The schedule was packed, and below you can see the presentations they attended.
Wednesday, September 17
- Presentation on Isavia ANS operations (Kjartan Briem)
- Presentation on UkSATSE and the impact of the Russian invasion on their infrastructure (Oleksiy Bochelyuk)
- Presentation on the use of ADS-B at Isavia ANS (Arnar Þórarinsson)
- Presentation on the impact of spoofing/jamming in the Isavia ANS air traffic control area (Guðmundur Karl Einarsson)
- Presentation on the activities of the CNS division and the equipment offered to UkSATSE (Þorsteinn Jóhannesson)
- Presentation on the status of the Digital/Remote BIRK tower project (Sævar Birgisson)
- Lastly, there was a guided tour of the company
Thursday, September 18
- Presentation on the activities of Air Telecommunications in Gufunes (Lilja G. Magnúsdóttir)
- Presentation on the operations of Tern Systems (Magnús M. Þórðarson), which also mentioned the potential to employ Ukrainian air traffic controllers in future projects
The visit was part of UkSATSE's preparations for reopening Ukraine's air traffic control area and their participation in a European collaboration project supporting the restoration of surveillance systems and the safe restart of air navigation services in the country. Isavia ANS is the fourth air navigation service company UkSATSE has visited as part of this project, after previously visiting LGS, ENAIRE, and NAV Portugal.
Valentyn and Oleksiy expressed great satisfaction with the visit, and we at Isavia ANS are proud to be able to share knowledge and experience with our colleagues and to contribute to this important project.
