Drone Ban over Reykjanesbær

The drone ban is being imposed at the request of the Police Commissioner in the Reykjanes peninsula, in connection with the Night of Lights.

Due to law enforcement drone flights in connection with the cultural festival Night of Lights 2025, the Icelandic Transport Authority, at the request of the Police Commissioner in the Reykjanes peninsula, has prohibited all drone flights over Reykjanesbær within the following coordinates:

A: 63°59′35″ N, 22°34′07″ W

B: 63°59′44″ N, 22°31′42″ W

C: 64°01′03″ N, 22°32′16″ W

D: 64°01′01″ N, 22°35′07″ W

E: 64°00′08″ N, 22°34′20″ W

The ban applies from surface (SFC) up to 600 feet above mean sea level (AMSL).

The ban is valid during the hours from 12:00 on 5 September until 08:00 on 7 September 2025.

Requests for exemptions should be submitted to the Suðurnes district Police Commissioner via email at uav.sudurnes@logreglan.is
