Drone restriction over volcanic eruption site Reykjanes Peninsula

Due to survey flights, all drone operations over the eruption site near Grindavík are prohibited on 7 August from 10 to 16.

Due to drone-based geological survey flights, the Icelandic Transport Authority has, upon request of the Suðurnes District Civil Protection Coordination Centre, prohibited all drone operations over the eruption site near Grindavík, within an area (BIR70) bounded by straight lines connecting the following coordinates:

  • 63° 53′ 45.94″ N 22° 18′ 45.24″ W
  • 63° 53′ 46.70″ N 22° 20′ 59.33″ W
  • 63° 54′ 17.23″ N 22° 22′ 15.90″ W
  • 63° 55′ 17.02″ N 22° 21′ 43.99″ W
  • 63° 55′ 47.92″ N 22° 19′ 05.95″ W
  • 63° 54′ 55.35″ N 22° 17′ 28.85″ W
  • 63° 53′ 45.94″ N 22° 18′ 45.24″ W

The restriction applies from surface (SFC) up to 1500 feet above mean sea level (AMSL).

The restriction is valid from 1000 to 1600 UTC on 7 August 2025.
