Big day for the Reykjavik Oceanic Area Control Centre

Today is a big day for the Reykjavik Oceanic Area Control Centre because of the implementation of 15 NM TtT ATS Surveillance separation. Preparation for the implementation has been ongoing since 2021, starting within the NAT Region.

After the implantation Isavia ANS expects 95% of aircraft flying within the Reykjavik Control Area to be capable for ATS Surveillance separation (15, 10 or 5NM, see chart) and by that make better use of the airspace, reducing fuel consumptions and CO2 emission.

Isavia ANS is the first ANSP in the world to implement this new separation. The project team is celebrating and says congratulation to all.
