Due to volcanic activity and the necessary emergency and investigative flights, the Icelandic Transport Authority, at the request of the Civil Protection Coordination Center, has prohibited drone flights over and around the volcanic area in Reykjanes. The ban is in effect until 08:00 on Monday morning, August 26th.
The ban applies to an area within a four nautical mile radius around the eruption site, reference point 635300N02223W.
The ban is in addition to the previous ban valid until midnight on August 28th, 2024.
